Australian Republican Movement Candidates

Eight delegates were elected from South Australia for the Constitutional Convention. The Australian Republican Movement candidates who stood for election are listed below. The number next to each person's name indicated their position on the ARM's ticket.

Baden Teague

Dr Baden Teague is the Convener of the ARM in South Australia. Dr Teague was a Liberal Senator for 18 years from to 1979 to 1996. He holds a PhD from Cambridge. He is 53 and married with three sons.

Linda Kirk

Linda Kirk holds a Master of Law from Cambridge. She is a lecturer in Constitutional Law at the University of Adelaide. She is 30 and married.

Antonio Cocchiaro

Dr Tony Cocchiaro is a medical practitioner. He was President of SA's Co-ordinating Italian Committee 1989-97. He is 49 and married with three children.

Kirsten Andrews

Kirsten Andrews is the Youth Convenor of the South Australian branch of the ARM. Kirsten, 25, is a graduate in Communication Studies and a former student leader. She works as a Schools Liaison Officer at the University of South Australia.

Timothy Stanley

Tim Stanley is a graduate of the University of Adelaide. He is a barrister at the independent bar. He is 38 and married with two daughters.

Margaret Sexton

Margaret Sexton is the President of the United Trades and Labor Council (SA) and National President of the Community and Public Sector Union. She is 43.

Phillip Sutton

Philip Sutton is a secondary school teacher. He is a graduate in Arts and Education of Flinders University. He is 42 and married with two children.

Maryann Bin-Sallik

Dr Maryann Bin-Sallik is Associate Professor of Aboriginal Studies at the University of SA. She is a graduate of Harvard University and a former nursing sister.
