TED O'BRIEN PRESELECTED FOR BRISBANE
The Australian Republican Movement is pleased that its national chair, Ted O'Brien, has been pre-selected by the Liberal Party to contest the seat of Brisbane at this year's federal election. Ted O'Brien is 32 year s old , lives in the Brisbane electorate and has been ARM Chair since December 2005.
The ARM, a non-partisan movement committed to an Australian Republic with an Australian Head of State, contains among its ranks members of all party political persuasions as well as those with no affiliation. It congratulates Ted O'Brien on his candidature, and is also taking steps to leave no doubt about its non-partisan identity in the eyes of the Australian community.
With immediate effect John Warhurst will become the media spokesperson for the ARM and will take responsibility for all public comment until the federal election later this year. Ted O'Brien will take leave from his position as ARM Chair prior to the election campaign proper
The ARM looks forward to support for the republican cause from federal election candidates.
