Today the VOTE YES Volunteers Register was launched to enable republicans around Australia (and even Australians overseas!) to become part of our grass-roots campaign to secure the YES vote at the republic referendum in November. 20 July 1999

The Yes Committee appointed by the Federal Government to plan and coordinate the case for an Australian Head of State in November's referendum today announced it has appointed Singleton Ogilvy & Mather as its advertising agency and ANOP Research Services Pty Ltd as its research company for the campaign. 5 July 1999

Today the Australian Republican Movement presented its submission to the parliamentary Joint Select Committee examining the Constitution Alteration (Establishment of Republic) Bill 1999. The major points of the ARM's submission were that the current Long Title of the Bill, which forms the referendum question, does not mention that the purpose of the Bill is to replace the Queen with an Australian Head of State, and that it does not mention the public nomination process for Presidential candidates.
