Voters want to dump Queen: Advertiser poll

THE tide has turned in favour of Australia becoming a republic because a clear majority of voters believe the monarchy will be ditched within a decade.

An Advertiser poll finds the belief now is so strong that even among the minority who oppose change as many as seven out of 10 people think a republic is inevitable.

A move to a republic won almost unanimous support at last month's Australia 2020 Summit. read more
