Australia's head of state should be chosen by Australians

BBC News reports overnight indicate the Commonwealth of Nations has set up a "high level group" to decide whether they want Prince Charles to become the head of the Commonwealth when the Queen, who turns 92 in April, dies.

The Commonwealth of Nations is doing something that Australians aren't allowed to do for ourselves - choose someone who'll represent us as our head of state.

It's absurd, and it needs to change. Australia's head of state should be chosen by Australians. Most Commonwealth Nations (37 of 53) have their own head of state and its time we had our own too.
