Queensland event: Caboolture forum August 30 at Caboolture Bowls Club

The Queensland branch will be holding morning tea and forum at the Caboolture Memorial Bowls Club, 101 King Street, on Sunday August 30 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM.
The event is similar to other similar events held over the last several months in Queensland and will be looking to create a new local forum in Australia’s fastest growing region: Caboolture / Pine Rivers. Refreshments, including tea and coffee and an assortment of delicious treats will be served and the event is completely free to members and non-members alike. All are welcome.

The National Chair of the Australian Republican Movement, Major General Michael Keating, will be the main speaker at the event, and will also be answering questions on republican issues from the floor. If there is enough interest, a Caboolture forum committee will be elected on the day. Please RSVP as soon as possible by calling me on 0403 237 880 or by emailing qld@republic.org.au.

• Victoria
The ARM’s Victorian Council is a committed group of individuals who are passionate about Australia becoming a republic. The ARM branch elections being held at present are an opportunity for Victorian members to put their hand up and be counted. Go ahead, get involved!

We expect to see draft legislation later this year on the issue of Victoria’s parliamentary oath of allegiance to the Queen. We will be lobbying the Brumby Government to shed this outdated practice and instead have our MPs swear their allegiance to the people of Victoria.

Our annual fundraising dinner will be held at the Celtic Club on Saturday August 15. (Deferred – Date TBA).
All welcome - contact David McKenna on 0421 059 606 or via our website.
